Microsoft reshuffles Windows Phone top team

              Microsoft has reshuffled its mobile team, with current head Andy Lees moving onto a new project involving the Windows Phone and forthcoming Windows 8 platform.

In an email sent to staff yesterday [12 December], Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said Lees' replacement is Terry Myerson, who was in charge of engineering work on the Windows Phone 7 and 7.5. Ballmer said: 'Terry will now be responsible for Windows Phone development, marketing and other business functions.'

The Nokia Lumia series has 'grabbed a ton of attention in Europe', claimed Balmer, and he added that the change in Myerson's job would lead to the division 'driving maximum impact'.

He said: 'We have tremendous potential with Windows Phone and Windows 8, and this move sets us up to really deliver against that potential.'
